Do I Own The Lights?
No, we provide an all-inclusive decorating service season-to-season. This is actually a big benefit for you – it means you’ll never have to worry about repairs, replacement, or storage. We handle all of it for you, so your holiday light display looks perfect year after year. Plus, because the lights and decor remain part of our inventory, you can easily change up your bulb colors or scale your display up or down each season.
How Much Does Professional Holiday Lighting Cost?
Every home and business is unique, so pricing varies based on factors like roofline length, number of peaks and roof access complexity, and whether you add elements such as bushes, trees, stake lighting, wreaths, or garland.
Most residential displays fall between $1,500 – 2,200, with smaller projects (such as a simple one story ranch roofline) starting around $600 and larger estates or expanded displays reaching $3,000+ .
For commercial properties, pricing averages around $6,000, but can be as low as $1,000 for small boutique shops and reach $20,000+ for large buildings, shopping centers, multi-building or other expansive displays.
Will You Install Lights The Homeowner Already Owns?
No, we only install our own professional-grade lighting. This ensures safety, efficiency, and a polished look every time. Our commercial-quality LED lights are energy-efficient, long-lasting, and custom-fit to your home or business, so you can count on a reliable and stunning display all season long.
Do You Install Permanent Lighting Such as Govee or Can We Keep our Christmas Lights Up Year-Round?
Our lights are designed as temporary seasonal installations and are removed after the holidays to maintain quality and protect them from weather exposure. We do not install Govee or other permanent lighting systems at this time.
Are you licensed and insured?
Holiday Lighting by J&M is our DBA name for our dedicated lighting division under J&M Lawn Care LLC. We hold an active Home Improvement Contractor (HIC) license in Connecticut and our insurance fully covers both lawn care and holiday lighting services under one comprehensive policy — including $1 million in general liability, auto, and workers’ compensation coverage.
If A Bulb Goes Out; Is It Under Warranty?
Absolutely. Our holiday lighting service is all-inclusive, which means if a bulb goes out, wiring gets damaged, or anything stops working, just give us a call and we’ll fix it at no cost to you. We also check and maintain your lights during storage, so when we reinstall them the following season, they’re in top shape and ready to shine.
Is the Price The Same in year two?
Most returning customers actually pay less in year two and beyond! Since your custom lights are already designed, cut, and labeled for your home, installation is more efficient. We pass those savings on with 10% loyalty pricing as our way of saying thank you for lighting up the holidays with us again.
We also offer early installation savings for clients who allow us to install early in September or October — you can simply leave the lights unplugged until you’re ready to spread the cheer. And, yes you can combine this with your loyalty discount for even more savings!
Is installation safe for my roof and property?
Absolutely. We use specialized clips and fasteners designed for exterior lighting that won’t damage shingles, gutters, or trim. Roofline lights are attached using gutter clips or thin tabs that slide safely under shingles — no nails or drilling required.
Wreaths and garland may be secured using small hooks, screws, or anchors, which can leave minor cosmetic marks if later removed. For windows and smooth surfaces, we use suction cups, 3M outdoor adhesive clips, or light staples when necessary.
Do you light up windows?
We can light windows only when there’s wood trim around them that allows for safe stapling. Unfortunately, there aren’t any reliable suction cups or clips on the market yet that hold up to New England weather, so we avoid using those to ensure your display stays secure all season.
What color bulbs do you offer?
We offer Warm White (our most popular choice!), Red, Green, and Multi-Color (amber, green, blue, red, and yellow). You can also choose from fun patterns like Candy Cane (red & white) or Christmas Classic (green, red & white).
We even offer Halloween colors like Orange and Purple, or a Halloween-to-Christmas conversion so you can light up two holidays!

Do I have to be home for installation or takedown?
Generally, no — as long as your power source is accessible on the exterior of your home, you don’t need to be home for installation or takedown. We’ll take care of everything and ensure your display is set up safely and beautifully, even if you’re not there.
Do you offer any other kinds of holiday lighting besides Christmas?
Yes! We can create festive lighting for nearly any occasion—Christmas, Hanukkah, Diwali, Ramadan, Halloween, and more. If your family or business is celebrating, we can design a display to match.
What parts of Connecticut do you light up?
We bring holiday cheer to homes and businesses within about an hour radius of Marlborough. Stretching north toward Somers and Granby, west through Canton and down toward Woodbridge, east toward Mystic/Stonington, and northeast toward UConn Storrs campus.
